Privacy Policy

Receipt Tree ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Receipt Tree mobile application ("App").

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Information you provide

• Account information: email address and password used to create your account.
• Receipt images: photos and video frames captured through the App.
• Corrections: any edits you make to AI-extracted fields (vendor name, amount, category, etc.).
• Expense group names: labels you create to organize your receipts.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: feature interactions, session duration, and in-app events, collected to improve the product.
• Device information: device model, OS version, and app version for diagnostics.
• Crash reports: anonymized error logs when the App crashes.

We use your information to:

• Provide the core receipt detection, extraction, and organization features.
• Store your receipts and extracted data securely in your account.
• Send receipt images to Anthropic's Claude API for AI-powered field extraction.
• Improve accuracy and product quality based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.
• Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset). We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
• Respond to support inquiries.

Receipt Tree uses Anthropic's Claude API to extract structured data from your receipt images. When you scan a receipt, the image is transmitted to Anthropic's servers for processing. Anthropic's handling of this data is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

We do not use your receipt images or extracted data to train AI models. Receipt images are transmitted solely for the purpose of field extraction and are not retained by Anthropic beyond the processing window.

Your data is stored in Supabase, a managed Postgres database platform hosted on AWS infrastructure. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your data is enforced through row-level security policies — your receipts are never visible to other users.

Receipt images are stored in Supabase Storage (S3-compatible) with private bucket policies. Only authenticated requests from your account can access your images.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; in the event of a breach we will notify you as required by applicable law.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your receipts, images, and personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

You can export your data at any time using the in-app export feature before deleting your account.

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with third parties only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: Supabase (storage and database), Anthropic (AI extraction), Apple (in-app purchase management). These providers process data only on our behalf and under appropriate data processing agreements.
• Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
• Business transfer: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to affected users.

Receipt Tree is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to restrict or object to processing; and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@receipttree.app.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after notice constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
