Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using the Receipt Tree mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms apply to all users of the App, including users on free and paid plans.

Receipt Tree is an AI-powered receipt scanning application that allows users to capture receipts via video, extract structured financial data from them, organize them into expense groups, and export that data to third-party accounting platforms.

The App uses Anthropic's Claude API for AI-powered data extraction. The accuracy of extracted data depends on image quality and receipt legibility. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all extracted data before using it for accounting, tax, or other financial purposes.

You must create an account to use Receipt Tree. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.

Receipt Tree offers a free tier and paid subscription plans. Paid subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's payment terms.

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• You can cancel or manage your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy. We do not issue refunds directly.
• We may change subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice. Price changes take effect at the next renewal.

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any laws.
• Upload receipts or documents containing information that you do not have the right to process.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App.
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure or security.
• Use the App to process documents on behalf of others for commercial gain without our written consent.
• Misrepresent extracted data for fraudulent tax, insurance, or reimbursement claims.

Receipt Tree and its content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for your personal or business use.

You retain ownership of all receipts, documents, and data you upload to the App. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to process this data solely to provide the services described in these Terms.

AI-powered data extraction is not perfect. Receipt Tree makes no warranty that extracted fields (vendor, date, total, tax, category) are accurate or complete. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of all extracted data before using it for any financial, tax, or accounting purpose.

We are not responsible for errors or omissions in extracted data or for any financial consequences arising from reliance on unverified data.

The App integrates with third-party services including Anthropic (AI extraction) and Supabase (data storage). Your use of these services through the App is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion, with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time from within the App.

Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases. We will delete your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Receipt Tree and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, including but not limited to financial losses arising from errors in extracted receipt data.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that extracted data will be accurate.

We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California.
