Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using the Receipt Tree mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms apply to all users of the App, including users on free and paid plans.

Receipt Tree is an iPhone app that reads photos of your receipts and keeps the items, prices and totals on your device. Its Receipt Check feature compares each receipt with your own earlier receipts and points out where you might have paid less. It can also organize receipts into groups and produce expense reports.

The App uses Anthropic's Claude API to read receipts. The accuracy of what it reads depends on image quality and receipt legibility. You are responsible for checking anything you rely on, for budgeting, tax, reimbursement or any other purpose.

Receipt Tree does not use accounts. Your data is stored on your device, and you are responsible for keeping your device secure and backed up.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.

Receipt Tree offers a free tier and paid subscription plans. Paid subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's payment terms.

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• You can cancel or manage your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy. We do not issue refunds directly.
• We may change subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice. Price changes take effect at the next renewal.

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any laws.
• Upload receipts or documents containing information that you do not have the right to process.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App.
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure or security.
• Use the App to process documents on behalf of others for commercial gain without our written consent.
• Misrepresent extracted data for fraudulent tax, insurance, or reimbursement claims.

Receipt Tree and its content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for your personal or business use.

You retain ownership of all receipts, documents, and data you upload to the App. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to process this data solely to provide the services described in these Terms.

Reading receipts with AI is not perfect. Receipt Tree makes no warranty that the fields it reads (store, date, items, prices, sizes, totals, tax) are accurate or complete.

Receipt Check findings and price history are based only on the receipts you have scanned, as they were read. They are suggestions, not guarantees: prices change, stores differ, and a finding may be wrong if a receipt was misread. We do not promise any particular saving.

We are not responsible for errors or omissions in extracted data or for any financial consequences of relying on it without checking.

The App uses third-party services including Anthropic (reading receipts), RevenueCat (subscription status) and Apple (purchases). Your use of these services through the App is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services.

You may stop using the App at any time and delete your data from within it (Settings, Delete All Data) or by deleting the App. We may stop providing the App or any feature of it.

Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription. Manage subscriptions in your Apple ID settings.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Receipt Tree and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, including but not limited to financial losses arising from errors in extracted receipt data.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that extracted data will be accurate.

We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Kitsap County, Washington.
